Stay tuned: this course will be offered again in 2023! Having run for the third and fourth time from February to May, 2022, this course provided new and aspiring teachers with resources, methodologies, ideas, and feedback in order to help them shape their own understanding of what it means to be a piano teacher. The course has been designed to encourage peer discussion, allowing for necessary dialogue surrounding topics specific to new teachers, as well as current teaching practices. Topics covered in this course include lesson books, teaching resources, teaching different age groups, teaching in exam systems, teaching online, teaching to practice and memorize, applying for teaching jobs, setting up student contracts, evaluating payment methods, and more. Students have the option to complete short assignments for feedback. The course is conducted via Zoom, where participants can freely speak to, share content with, and provide feedback for each other, regardless of location.
